Precision CNC
Machining

We machine parts from solid billet for prototypes, short-run production and fixtures. Precision CNC machining sits inside our rapid prototyping work, so a part can be milled or turned to prove a design and then carried through to a moulded production part in the same building. We cut engineering plastics and ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

The Process

Machined from billet, into a moulding route.

01 / Overview

CNC machining removes material from a solid block or bar to reach a finished part, working to the geometry in your CAD model. It is a direct route to a functional part in the real material, which makes rapid CNC prototyping a natural first step before a mould is cut. The same file that drives a prototype machining job can go on to inform the production tool. Because billet machining works from solid stock, there is no tooling to commit before you have a part in hand.

Our tool room mills and turns in house, backed by EDM, wire erosion and grinding for tighter detail. That plant exists to cut moulds, so a CNC prototype, a jig or a fixture is machined by the same people who build production tooling, on the same equipment.

Because moulding sits under the same roof, a one-off or short-run machined part can feed straight into tooling and production moulding without changing supplier or re-quoting from scratch.

Where CNC Fits

What machined parts are used for.

Where a prototype needs a real engineering material and closer tolerances, Gemini machines complex one-off or multiple prototypes straight from CAD in our own tool room, no tooling required, in a range of plastics or metals. It gives you a part in a production-representative material.

02 / Applications

Functional prototypes

A CNC prototype in the production material, for fit, form and function testing before a tool is committed.

Short-run & one-off parts

Machined parts where the numbers do not justify a mould, or a one-off is needed alongside a moulded product.

Jigs & fixtures

Assembly jigs, checking fixtures and tooling components machined to support a wider moulding or build programme.

Get Started

Three steps to a machined part.

From a drawing to a finished part, you deal with one accountable UK tool room. Here is how it works.

01

Upload your drawing

Send a STEP, IGES or 2D drawing, or just a sketch and the material you have in mind.

02

We review and quote

We check machinability, suggest the right plastic or metal, and come back within one business day.

03

We machine your part

Cut from billet in our own tool room, in a production-representative material, ready for fit and function.
