Contract Assembly
& Sub-Assembly

Contract assembly at Gemini, whether we moulded the parts or you did. From intricate hand-built devices to fully automated runs, we build your components through to a finished, packaged product, one supplier for the whole job, no parts shipped out to a separate assembler.

Post-moulding assembly

From moulded part to finished product.

01 / Overview

Plastic assembly at Gemini is a continuation of the moulding process rather than a service bought in elsewhere. Once a component leaves the tool, the same site can trim, machine, join and build it into the final product, so contract assembly and sub-assembly sit alongside injection and blow moulding under one roof.

The work spans hand-built short runs, where operators trim and fit by hand, through to high-volume automated post-operation and assembly for larger programmes, and on to a fully packaged product ready for despatch. Both electronic and mechanical components are assembled, and new or existing blow and injection parts can be post-machined as part of the same build.

Intricate devices are assembled here too, with the work controlled on site in the UK. Because the parts and the assembly share a single supplier, tolerances and fit are resolved between moulding and build directly, without passing a problem between two companies. Where a build needs joining, our plastic welding and heat staking feed the same line.

The Range

Hand-built runs to automated build.

Contract assembly services at Gemini scale to the programme, from operators building by hand to automated post-operation lines. Product assembly services typically fall into:

03 / Capability

Hand-built short runs

Hand trimming, fitting and building by operators, suited to shorter runs, intricate devices and early production.

High-volume automated assembly

Fully automated post-operation and assembly for larger programmes that need repeatable output at pace.

Packaged product

Building beyond the assembly itself to a fully packaged, despatch-ready product under the same supplier.

FAQ

Assembly questions.

05 / FAQ
Can Gemini assemble parts you didn't mould?

Yes. We assemble parts we moulded and parts made elsewhere. If you have existing components that need building, trimming or post-machining into a finished product, we can take them in and do that, whether or not the parts came from our tools.

Do I have to use Gemini for moulding to use the assembly service?

No. Assembly is offered as its own service. Having the moulding and the assembly under one supplier removes handoffs and resolves fit and tolerance issues in one place, but it isn't a condition of us building your product.

What kinds of assembly do you do?

Mechanical assembly, electromechanical assembly combining electronic and mechanical components, post-machining of new or existing blow and injection parts, and packaging through to a despatch-ready product. Where a build needs joining, we use plastic welding and heat staking on the same line.

Can you handle both small runs and high volumes?

Yes. Assembly runs from hand-built short runs, where operators trim and fit by hand, through to high-volume automated post-operation and assembly for larger programmes. The approach is matched to the volume and the complexity of the build.

Do you offer bespoke assembly?

Yes. Builds are set up around what the job needs rather than a fixed line, so intricate devices and non-standard products can be assembled to your specification.

Can you package and despatch the finished product?

Yes. We can take a project through to a fully packaged product ready for despatch, so it leaves the same site it was moulded and built on.

Which sectors do you assemble for?

We assemble for a range of sectors, including automotive, defence, aerospace and packaging.

Where is the assembly done?

On site at our own facilities in the UK, alongside the moulding, tooling and finishing, so the whole job stays under one roof.

Need parts assembled?

Send us details about your part and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
