Plastic product design at Gemini, with design, engineering and tooling on one site, so a part is designed to be made, not just drawn.
Design & Development
With design, engineering development and tooling all done on-site, every stage of product design and development is integrated. That speeds up development, and the engineering input can reduce manufacturing cost.
From raw CAD data, an idea becomes a product that is fully featured for assembly and function. Once development is under way in 3D CAD, the data drives virtual models or physical prototypes, so a concept can be in your hands quickly to test in the real world.
Design Services
Our product design services cover a project from first concept through to production-ready data, with the engineering design experience to solve difficult problems along the way.
Taking an idea from concept through to a manufacturable product.
Engineering design for projects that need a high level of analysis and problem solving.
Refining a design for performance, cost and manufacturability.
Resolving design and function issues before they reach production.
Sizing and designing components to fit the assembly and the application.
Simulating the moulding process, including flow and FEA analysis where needed.
Why Gemini
Design, tooling, moulding, finishing and assembly happen on one site in the UK. Nothing is subcontracted out, so a project moves from a concept through to a finished, packaged product without changing supplier or losing time between them.
Many moulders buy tooling in or send it overseas. We cut ours in-house, so you deal directly with the people building your tool, and design changes and trials happen quickly rather than through a chain of suppliers.
Because the same business designs the part, cuts the tool and moulds it, design decisions are made with manufacture in mind from the start. That means fewer surprises at production and, often, a lower part cost.
Our plant is set up for the low and medium-volume, higher-value work that high-volume shops will not tool for, from niche and specialist parts through to pilot production, with a quicker route to market and lower upfront cost.
ISO 9001 certified, JOSCAR registered and Cyber Essentials certified, with an ISIR first-article inspection on production runs and parts checked by hand. The traceability that regulated sectors expect is built in.
Long-standing engineering and toolmaking experience across sectors including automotive, defence, aerospace and packaging, with the analysis and problem-solving to take on difficult parts.
Process
01
We take your idea and requirements and agree the approach.
02
The design is developed in 3D CAD, fully featured for assembly and function.
03
The data produces virtual models or physical prototypes to test.
04
The 3D data drives tooling design, with flow and FEA analysis where necessary, for injection or blow moulding.
05
The design is proven to perform as intended and to be manufacturable in production.
Software & Analysis
Our design and simulation work runs on industry-standard software, with flow and FEA analysis where a project needs it.
SolidWorks
Catia
PowerShape
B-Slim
Blow moulding simulation software.
