ABS is one of the most widely moulded engineering thermoplastics, and one Gemini works with routinely. Its combination of impact strength, rigidity and dimensional stability makes it a sound default for housings, enclosures and structural consumer and automotive parts. We mould and finish ABS at our own UK facilities.
The Material
ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a versatile amorphous thermoplastic. It flows well in the tool, holds its shape after ejection and machines and finishes cleanly, which makes it straightforward to mould into complex geometries with consistent results across a run.
The material balances rigidity with impact resistance, so parts stay stiff without becoming brittle. It takes surface texture, painting and pad printing readily, and bonds and welds well, all of which suit it to visible, handled components rather than purely internal ones.
Where a part needs higher heat resistance, chemical resistance or optical clarity, ABS may not be the right choice, and we will say so. For those cases we also mould other engineering thermoplastics, and can advise on the trade-offs during a design-for-manufacture review.
Why ABS moulds well
Tough at room temperature, resisting knocks and drops without cracking.
Stiff, with good dimensional stability and low shrinkage for repeatable parts.
Flows into fine detail and thin sections, tolerant across a broad process window.
Takes texture, paint, plating and printing, and welds and bonds cleanly.
Why Gemini
More than 26 years moulding ABS and other thermoplastics for UK manufacturers.
P20 steel tools cut and maintained in-house, so ABS tools are tried and adjusted on site.
Texture, paint, pad printing and assembly in-house, so ABS parts leave as finished products.
An ISO 9001 quality system, with parts inspected by hand before they are dispatched.

Typical Applications
The material suits rigid, handled and visible components across consumer, industrial and automotive work. Common uses we mould in ABS include:
Instrument cases, equipment covers and electronics enclosures, where rigidity, a clean surface and easy assembly matter.
Handles, casings, fittings and appliance components that need a durable, finishable surface and consistent detail.
Interior trim, brackets and clips where impact resistance and dimensional stability are needed at moderate temperatures.
